Went to a Yelp Event tonight at Chick N Cone. It’s a chicken and waffles joint with a twist…it’s served in a house-made cone. The original franchise was based in New York at the terminal building, and the local owners brought it to El Paso.
Hubby said it felt like we were in Orange County again since it pretty modern and everything was super sterile and bright. The interior strikes me as a super modern diner. The shakes are freshly made and the draft beers come from a crazy contraption that fills it from the bottom up. The cones are also freshly made in front of you.
The food was fresh and there were a lot of sauces (very El Paso) to compliment from the sweetest cinnamon, to the spiciest Peri Peri, which hubby likes the most. I’m a wimp but I was a fan of their chipotle tasting one. The fries, corn, and Mac and cheese all have seasoning, so ask for it without if you have sensitive kiddos like mine.
The chicken was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The portions were a bit small for the price, but the presentation was cute! We sampled a lot and also ordered a chicken sandwich meal (comes with fries, corn, or Mac N Cheese). We took advantage of their Thursday specials and got a Tecate beer and a shake for $2 each. The chicken sandwich was a little soggy but that’s probably because hubby waited for his beer to eat it, so a tip is to eat as soon as possible.
We asked them to make an ice cream cone for us and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they accommodated for us. Their servers were friendly and nice. I would come for a chill nite out since there was the football game on. I’ll be sure to come back for a school Spirit night. Come out and #supportlocal
