Robots on the Roll: Are Astro and Rosey Scanning Past El Paso’s Real Needs?

Someone sent me this… is it true? 🤔
El Paso Children’s Hospital just introduced two robots, Astro and Rosey, to assist with hospital logistics. 🚑🤖
These high-tech helpers autonomously navigate hallways, operate elevators, and even open doors to deliver medications, lab samples, and supplies. The hospital says they’ll free up staff for more patient care and reduce response times. 💊
But here’s the concern… the hospital reportedly has only one MRI machine and no PET scan—both critical for diagnosing conditions like cancer, epilepsy, and neurological disorders. 🏥🔬
PET scans, in particular, are essential for detecting tumors and monitoring diseases at a molecular level. Yet, instead of investing in life-saving imaging technology, they’re spending money on robots? It seems they’re more invested in PR than ER….🤔
Are these robots really the best use of hospital funds, or should priority go to expanding medical capabilities? What do you think? 💭👇
