Join us as we trace the history of Veracruz through its culinary foodways! Bricia Romero and David Rodríguez of Mimbre Restaurante in Ciudad Juárez will lead guests through a demonstration and tasting of a traditional dish from Veracruz. Guests are encouraged to share their own memories and traditions surrounding the dish and its ingredients as well as the foods of Día de Muertos during this event. At the conclusion of the demonstration, guests will be invited to share the meal together.
“Community Table” is an ongoing lecture and cooking series where we explore identity, history, and culture through food. Part lecture and part cooking demonstration, these events invite visitors to learn more about the significance behind the meal being prepared. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own traditions, recipes, and memories to share with others at the table. Previous “Community Table” events explored the shared foodways between Black and Mexican cultures as well as the preparation of mole during Día de Muertos.
