In the Art School Classrooms
Community “sand art” with tissue paper. Starts @ 11 AM. Come help us create a Día de los Muertos “sand art” display on the floor, similar to the traditional sand art seen in Mexico during Día de los Muertos, using the number coloring technique and tissue paper.
Monarca de Arcilla (Clay Monarchs). Starts @ 11 AM. Create your own small butterfly figurine with colored air-dry clay.

Face painting is available for free from 1 to 4 PM to get ready for the parade.

Food and vendors, inspired by the comida and artesanias of Veracruz, will be on-site!

Altar display in museum lobby will resemble a tzompantli, used in Mesoamerican civilizations with a contemporary Día de los Muertos twist! Adorned with traditional cempazuchitl flowers and sugar skulls frequenting Day of the Dead celebrations.
Free Small paper monarch butterflies will be available to add to the altar with a name(s) of a deceased loved one(s).

On view October 25th to November 4th in the Patricia and Jonathan Rogers Grand Lobby. Explore the themes of Día de los Muertos in Veracruz through the artistic vision of Martin Zubia (Blast).
Tradiciones: Día de los Muertos Bridging the Past and Present on view in the EPMA Ginger Francis Seminar Room and Mac Rogers Gallery Learn more about the traditions and roots of Día de los Muertos with photographs and artifacts from Mexico.
