Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse

October 14, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Free

What will you be doing at ~10:43A on October 14th? Make sure you are outside to see The Annular Solar Eclipse.

In El Paso, you will be able to see about 90% coverage, still quite spectacular! Be sure to wear proper eye protection. Looking directly at the eclipse without proper protection can damage your eyes.

One way to safely view the eclipse is to join local professors, astronomers, and educators from EPCC, NMSU, and Insights at the El Paso Community College – Transmountain Campus for a community event viewing party.

“This event will involve international collaboration with viewing the annular eclipse both virtually and in person. Solar filtered telescopes and other viewing activities will be available. Those ready and willing to conduct citizen scientists data collection with NASA's GLOBE Observer app will be able to participate in collecting temperature and cloud data during the eclipse. ”
