The drama continues with CRRUA!

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has issued a notice of violation to the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority for failing to meet lead and copper monitoring requirements. Here’s the latest:
CRRUA was supposed to collect 60 routine lead and copper samples every six months. However, they only managed to gather 49 samples from January to June 2024. Even more alarming, they didn’t collect any samples between July and December 2024!

In their response, CRRUA admitted the oversight was due to a misunderstanding of the sampling schedule. They promise to promptly collect the required samples and submit them for review. Once the results are available, they’ll be posted online for everyone to see.

NMED has reassured us that this violation is not considered an emergency, so no action is needed from customers right now. But it certainly raises concerns about the safety and quality of our drinking water.

What are your thoughts on how CRRUA is handling this situation? Are you worried about our water quality?
