Guided Tour of the Permanent Exhibits of the Centennial Museum

November 5, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Centennial Museum celebrates life in the Chihuahuan Desert. Come explore the Museum’s Permanent Collections Exhibits that focus on the Paleontology, Geology, Anthropology, and Biology of the Chihuahuan Desert. The Chihuahuan Desert is the largest and arguably the most biodiverse desert in North American and covers parts of three states in the United States and five states in Mexico. El Paso resides in the center of the northern segment of this desert which boasts 3,500 plant species, 170 different reptiles and amphibians, 130 species of mammals, and over 400 species of birds. Seen through the lens of the Centennial’s newest exhibit, Celebrating Life: Connecting Humanity and Nature in the Chihuahuan Desert, this tour will explore the place in which we live, the people who have lived here for nearly 30,000 years, the landscape that shaped them, and the flora and fauna that have resided here, both in the past, and the present.

The Centennial Museum is located on the campus of UTEP. (MAP)
