Melanoma, a form of skin cancer, is the fifth most common cause of cancer in the US. It is directly linked with sun/UV exposure to the skin. Melanoma is an aggressive cancer but can be cured if found and excised early.
Texas Tech El Paso is hosting its second annual melanoma walk in collaboration with AIM at Melanoma Foundation. Please join us for our annual Steps Against Melanoma walk on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Ascarate Park. By registering for the walk (at https://support.aimatmelanoma.org/event/steps-against-melanoma-el-paso-2023/e459569) and donating, you will help raise critical funds in our fight to end melanoma, the most life-threatening form of skin cancer. Your support is vital to our continuing efforts to find the cure. If you are unable to attend the walk in person, you may also register as a virtual participant!
Our walk is free and open to the public. We welcome friends and families of all ages. We will provide educational materials that promote sun safety and early detection. We will also provide sunscreen samples for everyone. Texas Tech physicians will be offering free skin cancer screening exams at the walk as well. We will also have games and entertainment for children, and free snacks and water for walk participants. There will also be food trucks available.
Most importantly, our walk will raise funds to support critical research for the cure of melanoma. Thank you in advance for joining our community efforts to spread melanoma awareness. Together, we will continue to make a difference, and together, we will end melanoma.
