Holiday Social at El Paso Airport

What a great event at the El Paso Airport celebrating Winterfest!

I knew that the event would be great and well organized as their drone event was amazing as well. They set the standards high and I appreciate them interacting and sharing with the community at large. I'm also excited to check out their new Visitor Center but it was closed for the night.

I got there at 5 pm and things were in full swing, with Santa, Chico, and Redd characters roaming the area and Snoap (snow soap) falling, it was a great start to the holiday season. There were free hot drinks (coffee, hot chocolate, honey chai, and raspberry mojito tea) courtesy of Coffee Box and super cute Christmas sugar cookies. I knew they were there, since those treats were advertised in advance, but was super surprised at the FREE beef flautas and red and green tamales with all the fixings given away as well as freshly made Christmas tree waffles with chocolate and strawberry toppings. A donation box to the Special Olympics was there if you chose to give and I did and they were super appreciative, but it wasn't required.

There were decorated tables and heaters and a live singer singing Christmas carols. The decor was super cute with lit up signs and they were handing out flashing lights and toys to the kids to help them participate as LIT up characters started to show up once it got dark. I was really impressed with how well they interacted with everyone and they made the party soooo much fun with Jack and Sally, the robotic guy, and LED fairy and even the Grinch and Elf dancing with everyone and interacting. I think they were from the character company Robotron. The Santa was also really nice and went around interacting with everyone and he had a real beard!

I love how the older folks and the kids were jamming along and El Pasoans aren't shy about dancing! I had a blast and regretted not bringing the kiddos but they needed to be in Karate to get ready for testing and hubby didn't want them to miss more classes. There were travelers arriving and soldiers and their families were amazed that it was all free and what a welcoming environment to come to in El Paso! Parking was also validated for free!
