Library Seeds

Wow did you know El Paso has a seed library? You get to pick and choose over a catalog of non-GMO seeds. “Check-out” up to 5 seed packets per season with your library card. The seeds are yours to keep (no late or lost fees!), but once you are a successful gardener, let some of your healthiest plants “go to seed.”

Harvest the seed, save some for yourself, and donate some to the public library to keep our collections stocked. I just picked up 5 packets of seeds (espazote, wildflowers, and mizuna) for free! 🤯🌱

It's thru a program called Sow.Grow. Repeat created to provide an alternative to genetically modified seeds, increase biodiversity and plant resilience, and reconnect local people with their food systems.

I just called the closest location and asked them what they had in stock on Monday, they took my library card number, and held the seeds for me to pickup on the library pick up hours and I just parked and they ran them right out! Easy peasy!

What's great is that they have instructions and care guidance and these are seeds that will do well in our climate based on what is already being grown here locally and you can't beat free!

Check out your local libraries as well to see if they have a program like that! 🤗
