MD305 Soul Food and Drinks

**edit to add I'm featuring Black-owned businesses for Black History Month, as someone asked why it matters**

Another Black-owned small business here in El Paso, MD305 Soulfood & ToGo Drinks, serves up some great soul food.

I saw them as I was pulling out of Ray's Philly Steaks and was curious as I thought it was maybe Cuban food since 305 is an area code in Miami Dade. 🤷‍♀️

I was so full, but was excited to try some of their offerings. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and helpful as I really wanted to try the shrimp and fried okra. She ended up helping me order a kid's meal since it comes with okra as a side. All their meals sounded good and are priced well.

Well, that's a kid's portion and it's pretty generous. It comes with a bomb sauce called MD305 (in mild or hot); I got mild since I'm a wimp.

The breading was light and so full of flavor. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and doused with the same awesome seasoning. The okra was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just how I like it.

I started loving fried okra after living in Houston. They made it better here than anywhere I've tried in Houston. I'd come back just for those fried okra.

I'm excited to come back and try other things here, especially the alcoholic smoothies! It was too cold but I bet it's heaven in the summer heat. 🍹

The place is kinda hidden behind a Gorditas restaurant, but there's plenty of parking, so come out and #supportlocal
