El Paso Police Citizen’s Academy

One of the best programs I've been to in El Paso is the Citizens Police Academy.

I got over my fear of guns and actually shot these ones pictured. I also saw a controlled bomb go off in front of me and got to see all the SWAT gear in person.

It's been educational so far and meeting the people behind the gear and uniforms has been an eye opening experience. They do everything deliberately keeping in mind the safety and well-being of the entire community. They continuously train extensively and the things that they see and encounter…well, I have a profound appreciation for their professionalism and experience. 🫡👏

If you want to peek behind the curtain so to speak like we did and see what these amazing men and women do on a daily basis for our community I highly recommend you join the next class.

The El Paso community has a chance to learn about law enforcement during a Citizen Police Academy beginning Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Among the topics to be covered are: patrol; crime scene investigations; homicide investigations; Texas Rangers; civilian response to active shooter events; and other topics.

To apply you must be at least 18 years old and no longer in high school. There is no upper age limit.

Applications available online at eppd.org under the Community Policing tab, or https://tinyurl.com/eppdfallcpa.
