My 1st time at a Virgin De Guadalupe celebration.

I was very lucky to be invited to a Virgin De Guadalupe celebration at a friend's house. Her mom has been throwing this party for the past 21 years! They gather to make Asado De Puerco and Champurrado/Atole and invite some Matachines to dance. 🕺🪶

The stew was a deep red and had a lot of spices and even oranges in it! They said they used over 50lbs of pork. The drink was creamy, chocolatey, and the consistency was smooth, they said it was the ground corn. ☕🍊🥘

Wow the food was amazing and the dancers danced for over an hour! They sure had stamina and it was very interesting. It reminded me of Lion Dancers brought in to dance and celebrate Chinese New Year or to bless a new business. 🙏✝️

I also had some sweetbreads and I would love to learn more about these traditions as this is the 1st time I've been shown this. What a wonderful tradition that brings families together, and kudos to the neighbors for not complaining about the drums and rattles! 🥁🪘🎶
